The key to a disconnected undercut hairstyle is that there needs to be a noticeable break in the hair line or a pattern which separates the sides from the top.
A undercut hairstyle is very popular nowadays and you often tend to see elements of the pompadour surface with an undercut haircut. Also with an undercut the lines between the top of the hair which is medium in length and the sides will often be blurry and will be soft around the edges. You may also see some form of blending or layering happen which leads to an undercut.
With a disconnected undercut the lines are more bold and noticeable, you can actually see the disconnect from the sides to the top hence the name of the haircut. There is no transition between the hair on the sides which is short and the top of the hair which is long.
This type of haircut is very radical and really makes an impact on ones appearance. It’s edgy, cool and daring and is very much in trend at this moment in time.
In this article I have added a mix of celebs and models who are rocking the style and it gives you a flavor of what can be achieved.
In this first image Brad Pitt sported this hairstyle around the time he did the movie Fury in 2014.
This next image is a good example of what can be achieved if you have long hair. This must be rather liberating for someone with long hair as a lot of the hair is removed and it then becomes a lot more manageable.
This hairstyle is pretty impracticable but all the same is represents a disconnect between the sides and the top of the hair.
I thought I would add this image of actor Cillian Murphy becasue it’s an unusual disconnect but is clever in how it was cut.
Finally Zayn Malik has gone a little wild with the hair on the top but still looks great!
