The Faux Hawk hairstyle is in essence a less intrusive more subtle Mohawk. The style is often called a Fohawk as well and it’s a haircut you see a lot. It’s very popular as it really can enhance a guys look.
A lot of layering and texture takes place with a faux hawk and in the series of images which I have chosen for this article you will see that there are different layers and length of hair on show.
It’s also a hairstyle which is very versatile and can suit pretty much all types of face shapes and what i like is that you can style it from the left or right.
Taylor Lautner in this first pic below has very thick black hair he has a round face and the hairstyle helps to elongate it. nice textured cut where the sides are short and the top has lift.
Jeremy Renner hair is more fair and thin yet with a good clay based styling aid I like how the different strands of the hair are styled.
You can see with David Beckham that in this picture taken some time back the hair on top is rather flat but that is due to the length of the hair. Either way both sides come together to form tapered look. An edgy hairstyle which I like.
Zac Efron hair is on the wild side. It’s really going places but this example shows you what can be achieved when the hair on top is longer than normal. Blow drying the hair before applying a mousse or pomade to the hair will work to get this style.
Michael Buble has thin hair and so a Faux Hawk is a good choice to go for. A wax based styling aid looks to have been used here. The great thing I like about this hairstyle is how understated it is. It’s not loud but subtle and a winner if your in a rush to head out and need to style your hair quickly and effectively.
Another good example from Channing Tatum. He wore this hairstyle a lot when he was younger. The sides are more like a buzz cut yet with the top the barber has used thinning shears to reduce the thickness of the hair and allow the hair to stand up more with out being forced to fall flat.
Jensen Ackles in this picture has a good example of shinny wavy hair. By cutting the hair at angles his hair has texture and bounce on the top. The hair is slightly falling to one side but that’s o.k.
If you haven’t tried this hairstyle yet I certainly recommend you give it a go.
